Looks like it's going to be another good weekend here in Cambridge.  The LPGA is happening at Whistle Bear.  Not sure if tickets are still available or not, but you'll be able to watch it on TV!  Here's what else is going on...


Community Garden Planting: 

This spring be a part of the new Idea Exchange Preston Community Garden! Get your hands dirty by helping us plant seeds and plants that we will watch grow and care for this summer during our children's programs. Enjoy family friendly garden activities, check out our worm factory and more! Let our garden grow!

Fiddlesticks Strawberry Social 

If you live in the Clemens Mill area grab your family, friends, and neighbours and come on over to the Homestead for Fiddlesticks' Annual Strawberry Social & BBQ.  There will be some good, old-fashioned fun with games, activities, prizes, and our traditional cake walk!

BBQ items, strawberry shortcake and cream, and beverages will be available for purchase along with tickets to the cake walk.

Where: Fiddlesticks Community Centre (71 Cowan Blvd)

Time: 3:30 – 6:30pm

Cost: FREE admission with items to purchase


Demo with Game Designers

Ever wanted to create your own game? Game enthusiasts are invited to explore the design process, test out game board prototypes, make suggestions and learn about strategy, function and form.

Share, discover and play your favorite games - Ticket to Ride, Zombie Dice, Machi Koro, Love Letter, Coup and more! Demo-play with on-site game designers and bring your own published or unpublished game to share.

Other dates to join in the fun are: On Thursdays, June 11, July 23 and August 13 from 6:30-8:30pm and Saturdays, June 6, July 25 and August 8 from 2-5pm,

Paint the Grand

Come check out the artists painting around McDougall Cottage as part of their Paint the Grand.  Artists, of all levels, are invited to set up their easels within walking distance of McDougall Cottage to paint a piece en plein air.

Finished pieces will be donated and then placed on Exhibit and sold at Silent Auction from September 11 to December 13. All proceeds support the Friends of McDougall’s annual Musician-in-Residence program.

Dumfries Kite Fest


The Wind Climbers Kite Club is hosting the 19th annual Kitefest. There will be  flying demonstrations, which will include parachuting teddybears and kids will be able to make and colour their own kites, and then fly them. Don't have a kite?  No worries! You can buy one there. Bring your own lawn chairs and food.  If you don't want to pack a lunch  the North Dumfries Kinsmen club will be there to serve you.

Another thing you might want to check out is the Stephen King movie that they're shooting in Hespeler Village.  It's starting James Franco.  They'll also be shooting in Ayr.
